Time for #NEWTsReadathon2018! (August TBR!)
Hello friends! This August I'm participating in a reading challenge called the NEWTsReadathon2018! It's a super fun and involved Harry Potter-based magical readathon created by Book Roast, and the premise is something so many HP fans wish they could do -- take the N.E.W.T. exams!
There are different categories for each "Subject" you take, and you have to read a book in each category to get a particular "Grade" - A for Acceptable, E for Exceeds Expectations, and O for Outstanding! The "grades" are on a scale, so you have to read the "A" book first, then the "E" book, and THEN the "O" book! Of course, it's all just for fun - no real grades!
You can out all about the #NEWTsReadathon2018 challenge on Book Roast's youtube HERE!
And you can follow the Magical Readathon on Twitter HERE!
Now, without further ado: here is my reading list for the month!
Care of Magical Creatures
I'm trying for an "E" but will read the "O" book if I can!
A -- Animal on cover
Forever by Maggie Stiefvater
E -- Book under 160 pages
Knights of the Dinner Table, Bundle of Trouble vol. 8 by Jolly Blackburn
O -- Includes dragons in any way
Eon by Allison Goodman
Charms
I'm trying for an "O"!
A -- Read a book with magic in it
Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer
E -- Cover that charmed you
The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson
O -- A book you think will leave a mark
The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner
Divination
I'm trying for an "O"!
A -- Set in the future
The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers
E -- Under 200 pages
Knights of the Dinner Table, Tales From The Vault vol. 4 by Jolly Blackburn
O -- Mythology book
Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
History of Magic
I'm trying for an "E" but will read the "O" book if I can!
A -- Book you think would fit in at the Hogwarts' library
A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan
E -- Published at least 5 years ago
Linger by Maggie Steifvater
O -- Book at least 400 pages long
The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
Transfiguration
I'm trying for an "O"!
A -- Book with a grey cover
Finale by Becca Fitzpatrick
E -- Read a book from an author you've never read before
Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller
O -- Book set in a kingdom/has royals
Daughters of Ruin by K.D. Castner
Thats it! Obviously if I try to get "O" grades for each that will be a grand total of 15 books read in August, which is a LOT! I'm aiming for 13 books - three "Outstanding" grades and two "Exceeds Expectations" grades. 13 is still a lot of books to get through, but it will be fun seeing how far I get!
